    The "Artisan Prize" (Premio Artigiano) is a contest opened to all the local artisans, not only artistic ones. It has been organized by local authorities since 2006.

   The NIGI firm took part to the 5th edition of this contest (on 2010) with its religious jewel named "The Sign of the Cross". With it the firm won a  nomination "for the ability to express in a jewel the spirituality of a gesture".

    For this occasion the NIGI firm realized a hammered cardinal cross, in silver 925mill., of high dimension (cm. 8x15), made with the lost-wax system.  The common models are obtained directly working 2 metal threads, instead, and have different sizes: from 1 to 3 centimetres of highness; bigger only on demand. They are completely handmade, in a unique piece, generally in yellow or white 18-gold karats. They are showed in a wood box with the add of a specific certification.

ITS MEANING:

       Two-thousand years of history passed since the cross became a religious symbol, and we could think every shape had already been invented. Instead, the NIGI firm was able to give a new and richer interpretation to the symbol, linking together, in a single pendant, the cross and the "sign of the cross", that gesture of opening and closing of Christian prayers. The two threads used for this pendant follow the gesture of the sign (you can easily understand it by looking the cross from its back, or just wearing it) and ends its way on the final action of the Amen. As you can notice this final gesture is not completely done so to underline the complete action of the gesture: this confers more dynamism to the jewel but, above all, wearing this cross it's like continuously making the holy gesture of the Sign of the Cross.

   The models are always realized in a unique piece, one by one, so you can order the size you prefer, in the polish or hammered version and in the colour of gold you prefer.
